Shaving.....
I understand why you have to shave the area that is about to get inked. What I don't understand is why some people and even myself have this problem with the razor causing the skin to turn red and irritated. I have tried single blade razors, I have tried multi-blade razors. I have done it with shaving cream, shaving gels, all for sensitive skin. So I guess my question is why does this happen and can I do something to prevent it or even stop it? Because it seems like the razor causes more redding or irritasion than the tatt it self.

Don't use alcohol to shave the area, like some people do. Cleanse the skin with the alcohol and then use green soap for shaving.

But, most important - shave in the same direction that the hair is growing. You may not get as close of a shave but it will cause less irritation.

Even try witch hazel to calm the skin before starting the tattoo.

You may also want to use less pressure on the razor and allow the blade(s) to do the work.
